Gennady Golovkin was searching for someone to fight him for the middleweight title. Kell Brook was more than eager to step up for the challenge.Brook will move up two weight classes to face the fearsome Golovkin on Sept. 10 in a clash of unbeaten champions. The British fighter will have the hometown advantage at Londons 02 Arena, but faces a formidable task against a fighter who is not only bigger but has stopped his last 22 opponents. This is the fight and the moment I have been waiting for for some time, Brook said. Weve tried and tried to lure the best to come and fight me and now weve got the best of the best -- the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world is coming to the UK.Brook got the fight after negotiations with middleweight Chris Eubank Jr. broke down this week, promoter Tom Loeffler said. The two sides quickly came to a deal, on the same terms that Eubank rejected. When you have 22 knockouts in a row its a big problem to get fighters in the ring, Loeffler said. Kell Brooks has had problems finding welterweights to fight him, so its actually a good solution.Golovkin had hoped to get Mexicos Canelo Alvarez in a middleweight showdown, but turned elsewhere after Alvarez gave up his piece of the 160-pound title rather than meet him in September. Golovkin wanted to fight in London, so getting a British opponent was a priority.Brook is more than just an opponent, having won all 36 of his fights while capturing a piece of the 147-pound title. But his first test as a middleweight will be a big one against the increasingly popular Triple G.Hes actually not much smaller. Kell is a very big welterweight, and Gennady is a small middleweight, Loeffler said. Its not going to look like hes a much bigger fighter. The real test is not how physically big he is but how big his heart is, and Kell has proven to have a big heart.Take away the weight difference, and the matchup is an intriguing one. The two fighters have 71 fights between them, and 71 wins.Just as importantly, both can bang, with Golovkin scoring 32 knockouts in his 35 fights, and Brooks 25 in 36 fights. They will meet for the 160-pound titles held by Golovkin, who will be defending his belts in yet another major city as he works to expand his following. Golovkin sold out Madison Square Garden in October for a stoppage of David Lemieux, and did the same in April at the Forum in Los Angeles when he knocked out Dominic Wade.Im very excited to be fighting in front of the great British boxing fans and promise another `Big Drama Show against undefeated Kell Brook, said Golovkin. I give him much respect for taking this fight.Brook has fought almost exclusively in England, though he traveled to Los Angeles in 2014 to win the 147-pound title from Shawn Porter. He has defended it three times. You have seen some huge names run from GGG, but Im running to him, Brook said. The fight will be televised on Sky Box Office pay-per-view in Britain, and on HBO in the U.S. Oshane Ximines Giants Jersey . A day after word leaked that Vogels top assistant, Brian Shaw, had been hired as Denvers new head coach, Vogel told reporters he already has a list of potential replacements. The goal: Make a quick hire. "Im thinking like 3 or 4 oclock this afternoon," Vogel joked Tuesday when asked about having a timetable for the hire. "Seriously, wed like to do it as quickly as the process allows, making sure, of course, that we do our due diligence on the people were bringing in here." Vogel did not drop any hints of who might be on his list of candidates, but he did talk about a few essential skills the next assistant will need. He wants someone who fits in with a young team that appears to be on the verge of becoming a perennial championship contender. Since Vogel took over as Indianas head coach during the 2010-11 season, the Pacers have shown steady improvement — reaching the playoffs in Vogels first season, winning a playoff series in 2012 and pushing two-time NBA champion Miami to Game 7 in the Eastern Conference finals this past season. Shaw played a crucial role in the improvement over the past two seasons, building strong relationships with the younger players to help them excel on the court. He has been credited specifically by Vogel and others within the organization for the breakout seasons this year for Paul George and Lance Stephenson.dddddddddddd George was named the NBAs Most Improved Player. Stephenson played key roles in playoff wins over Atlanta, New York and Miami during his first season as a starter. It wasnt just the players who learned something from Shaw. "The experience he brought to the Indiana Pacers through his playing days and his days as an assistant to the Phil Jackson and the insights he offered from the greatest coach in the history of the game during meetings helped me grow as a coach," the 40-year-old Vogel said. Shaws championship background and the stories about his own NBA career played well in the locker room, too. Thats one reason Vogel is seeking an assistant with professional experience. Assistant coach Dan Burke has spent the last 24 years in the league — all of it as an assistant coach, video co-ordinator or scout. Vogels other assistant, Jim Boylen, went into coaching immediately after finishing his college playing career at Maine and never played professionally. "Ill look at a lot of different types of assistant coaches," Vogel said. "I certainly think its important to have a player or two on your bench to share their experiences with the guys." ' ' '
